Rain kissed Rose

by Catherine Gagne

We took a walk on the Bridge of Flowers on a rainy day. When I saw how the raindrops fell on the rose, I just zoomed in for the picture, I used a Kodak DX6340 digital camera set on auto.
Comments and opinions will be appreciated.

Catherine:
Welcome to flora.

Water droplets on flowers make them look refreshing. Like the point of view in this comp. You camera autofocus has focused on the left upper corner leaf behind the flower instead of the flower. The framing around the flower looks a little tight and would prefer if the petal along the top was not clipped.

Your composition is good with the green surrounding the lovely pink flower. It's too bad your autofocus picked the leaves to focus on. I agree with Gary that it would also be good to not cut off the tip of the petal at the top.

Catherine,
Real good color and the rain drops always add a nice perspective. I agree with Gary and Mark about the oof and the framing (if there is more to work with). :wavey:

Thank you for the comments. I agree the flower shouldd have been centered a little better. It was starting to pour and I was trying to keep the camera dry. It did originally have a bit more greenery showing, but at the time I didn't know how to resize so I tried cropping to get under the 200kb. My son has since showed me how to resize in photoshop.

I agree with the other comments regarding composition and sharpness and would also avoid blown highlights in the rain drops (?) by cloning them out. Otherwise a nice rose image.

A little more room and directed focus on the bloom would make this a show piece Catherine. I'm looking forward to more.
