Just kidding. Could not resist using that title since it kept coming to mind while I worked on scanning and processing this image today. You know the old saying, "If you believe that, then I have a bridge to sell you".
The Brooklyn Bridge, New York City, New York.
The texture of the bricks and wire lattice work always amazed me every time I visited this NYC icon. However, it was always a little unnerving photographing here especially when you are surrounded by cardboard homes and Cadillacs, if you know what I mean. NYC was 5 miles as the crow flies from were I grew up, so I used to visit there quite often for photo ops.
This was taken way back in 1979 using Kodak Plus-X Pan Professional film developed in my own darkroom back then. This image was taken with an Omega 120 medium format press camera (6X7 format)
Omega 120 and simple Gossen light meter. My uncle gave me this camera in the early 1970's and I still have it. A little bit of corrosion on some parts from the humid conditions in the northeast but it seems to still work. I may try to take a roll or two with it again.
Processing included scanning with an Epson V750, Silverfast Ai Studio 8 (multiple exposure scan), Better Scanning adjustable film holder with ANR glass. Scanned in RGB mode so I could apply sepia toning in PS CS6 via SilveFast Pro 2 (won't work if you scan as gray scale). I originally printed this negative in my darkroom in 1979 and did chemically sepia toning on that version way back then. This scanned / PS CS6 / Silver Efex Pro2 version is very close to my original darkroom print.
