Stars and Old Faithful

I was shooting the Mily Way at Old Faithful last month to take advantage of a DARK sky and by a great streak of luck Old Faithful erupted.

Nikon D300 F4 1/25th ISO 3200 25 second exposure with Tokina 12-24

Comments and critiques as this was my first try at stars without streaking them.

Somewhat perplexing photo . . . until you explained it. At some level I enjoyed the ambiguity too. Light and contrast looks right.

Interesting. Is the light from the eruption, or do they light it artificially when it erupts?
