Wasp & Yellowjacket

Trying to get a good Yellowjacket flight shot on a Wild Parsnip bush when a few Mud-Dauber Wasps arrived among the YJ swarm. This Blue Mud-Dauber approached a YJ from behind. I was hoping that a proper battle would follow but the YJ took off before it could happen.
Canon 7D, 60mm 2.8 Canon lens, ISO 800, 1/640sec,f8. sunlight, Approx 80% of original.

Like this image! You have the mud-dauber in fine focus and the yellow jacket is sharp enough. I do wish the yellow jacket was facing the other way, but you have to take what mother nature gives you, before she snatches it away! Maybe tone down the bit of brighter plants right in the center. Thanks for sharing.

Hard to get two active insects like this so nicely detailed Roger, hat's off to ya.
Very good exposure and colors, it looks like the YJ's beating a hasty retreat
Well done :toast:

Roger,
This is very good, the detail is amazing. The way the plants kinda glow or radiate the light adds so much to the overall composition.

Great behavior shot! It definitely looks like the Mud-Dauber is checking out the Yellow Jacket and may be ready to pounce. I like the brightness overall with good sharpness on both wasps and nice details in the flowers.

Great job getting both critters in focus. The mud dauber seems to have an expression saying "Hey, get off of my flower!"
f/8 worked perfectly at 60mm. to get both wasps and flowers sharp, and blur the background just enough. No nits.

I just read Wayne's comment, and I could not have said it any better. Great job getting both insects sharp, but the BG works very well. When the YJ took off, did you continue shooting the wasp? I like the wasp against the green/yellow BG. :toast:
