A Few Years Back

Sorry for not being around much lately. Most of you should know by now, that summer is not really a good season for me. Busy at work, and lots of other stuff too. I have not been able to do anything with some new images I had a chance to capture a few weeks back. So, I'm reposting this freshly processed image from a few years back. It's Carson Peak, and the Eastern Sierra, high desert transition zone along the June Lake Loop. Probablty my favorite type of environment to be in.

Off to Nova Scotia for a visit with some family there tommorrow, so the hustle and bustle continues. I appreciate any thoughts you might have on this one. I'll try and get reacquainted with everyone when I return.

The tones, colors and textures throughout this image are amazing, Chris. I love the muted palette and the complex composition. Excellent work.

I really like the earthly tones in the foreground Chris. Wonderful sky and mountain backdrop.

Nova Scotia? One of my favorite places. I have been going to Cape Breton (also been to other places in NS too) every fall since 2006 except last year when I went to Scotland. Going back this autumn. Can't wait.

Hope all is well Chris.

Hi Chris! Nice seeing another post from you, and a nice one it is! I like the colors in this, add the textures and all the layers and it makes a beautiful scene! Hope you have a wonderful visit to Novia Scotia.

Chris,

A most beautiful landscape from the Eastern Sierra. I just absolutely love the rich color of the chaparral. I'm sure this looks wonderful in print. Thanks for posting and have a safe trip.

It's a very pretty scene, Chris. I like the subdued colors and the way they add prominence to the mountains.

just that bit of photography with Lon and Dietrich a few weeks ago. Nothing to get crazy about, I know...

Elegantly and subtly composed as it has become your style. This is probably the first image of yours that looks a tad HDR-ish for me. I know you are not into that, so it seems a by product of processing. Anyway, the comp. and feeling it conveys make this for me. Good work.
Look forward to more.

Hey Chris, good to see you posting. Although I can't say I've been much better. I've done some shooting but no posting :)

Anyway this one is pretty nice. The details are great, and I agree that this really gives you the feel of the east side. Two nits though: I think this may have a bit too much contrast. Also, even though I like the layering, the bottom layer is a little "deep" relative to the other layers. For me it throws off the rhythm of the composition. Sorry that is really nitty, but your stuff standard is so high I will mention it
