I ws looking for one shot that screamed Old West. This was taken in the Grand Tetons last week.

Good shot from an iconic location. From the shadow length, it looks like it was fairly early in the morning.

Iconic indeed! It seems a little washed out on my monitor. Makes me want to go there, though.

Second version. Looks like a perfect postcard, and I mean that in a nice way. Truly a strong iconic type image, but not one I recall seeing.

Repost is an improvement, much better contrast and color.

This looks Old West to me wth the Tetons in the background and no sign of man. I also like the repost with the mts just a shade darker. Well composed and well done.

Andrew,
Indeed a classic representation of the region and yes, even of the "old west." At least what we've grown up think of the "old west." ;-) Well done with the composition giving the bison room to roam so to speak. Agree about the light and exposure, but your repost is a definite improvement. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic rendition of the "old west" genre. But I have to buck the trend and say that the original is much better in conveying the old west feel due to the washed out appearance. The light is much more "Bierstadt-ish" if I could say that in the first post than the second post.

Splendid, and certainly "old west"... And, I have to say that while the re-post is probably more correct photo-wise,
I find the original, slightly washed-out version more in the spirit of the old movies where dust and sun and prairies
where all around for miles and miles...
