Where's Mom?

This grizzly cub was sighted on a trip out of Telegraph Cove, in the Northeast part of Vancouver Island, B.C. It was a day trip and we saw quite a few adults and cubs. They search the low tide zone for crabs and mussels, upturning rocks and feasting on seafood. It was raining heavily this day, so the bears looked kind of soaked. This was one of three cubs, standing up to get a better view of Mom.

Canon 5d, M3, ISO1000, 400 mm, f 5.6, 1/800 sec.

Comments and critiques welcome. Still a beginner!

I like the pose and the setting here. It would be nice if the cub was facing more toward the camera and was positioned to the left in the frame (allowing there to be more space in front of the direction that the animal is looking in). That being said I have NO pictures of bears in my files and would be elated to get something like this!

Very cute bear image, Kathy! Vancouver Island is so great for seeing bears. I like the wet hairs. I agree with Tonia it would be nice to have a bit more room at the right. :toast:

Catching a cute fluffy bear cub standing up like that, clearly visible from top to toe is fantastic! Tech and processing looks good, but I do agree with the comments made about positioning and head turn/visibilty of the face.

This is a neat capture of behavior. My wish would be to have him facing more to the camera to see some eye, rather than away.
