I posted this photo June 2, 2012, and reworked it with Keith Bauer's coaching in CS6 and NIK. I hope you like the improved, only slightly modified version.

It was taken June 1, 2012 at Bolsa Chica Wetlands Preserve in Huntington Beach, CA.

D300 Nikkor 200-400 1.4TC 550mm f/8 1/640 ISO640 White Balance Auto Manual RAW Taken with a tripod and Wimberley gimbal.

Patrick,
This post looks a little sharper with better color on my screen, Both this and the original post look fantastic to me however. Great capture and the detail is outstanding. Only thing that would make it better is if this where the insurance lizard and the end of those commercials, but if it where, I'm sure they would deny his claim. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful image Patrick, I love the setting, the action and the great look at the Red Tail Hawk. Your rework on the image paid big dividends in my opinion. I like the new crop, positioning the bird higher to the right, the better light and color in the eye and toning down the upper part of the beak - a much stronger image.

This is a great image. The hawk appears sharp . The foreground and BG really make the image great.
