Went into the local Highwood Mtns this afternoon and spent some time around an old beaver pond. A lot of different birds were catching insects, and I finally got a closer shot of one of the Cedar Waxwings. It was pretty shady in parts of the area, and some of the lighting was not the best, but I liked how this one came out. I could have lightened it up some more, but I like the different shades of lighting......what do you think?

It works for me David. The shades give it a great feel of depth. Good sharpness and I like the catch light.

Nice job getting so close and picking up some detail. These birds normally show so smooth. Sharon

looks great, David. nice details and a good looking setting. I wouldn't mess with the shadowed parts but might try to get a bit more out of the dark front of the mask.

David this is great as posted. I would not mess with it. The shadows add. Too many times people try and elim shadows to get even lighting and it makes the image look flat. There is detail all through this image IMO. Very nice.

I love the lighting, Dave. Very dramatic and you didn't lose any detail.

Excellent.

Agree, very dramatic, not what you usually see in a Waxwing shot. Excellent image!
