Twin Valley Lake +R

This is a June image I made at Twin Valley Lake here in S.W. WI. I made this in the early morning not long after sunrise. The sun came up on the left side of this picture and was burning the fog off as it got highter in the sky. I went with the idea of shooting a colorful sunrise but knew before long I needed to change my thought and position. Probably tired of hearing this...but it was another wonderful, quiet and peaceful morning.
Also, thanks for all of your comments on my last post.
Canon, 24-105 @24,iso 100, f/11 and 1/6 sec.

I really like the way you've done the foreground on this (with the reeds). I always have a hard time getting something like this to work. Excellent!

Well, Nick your 'another wonderful, quiet, and peaceful morning' comes across loud and clear as that is exactly what was going through my mind when I first saw this, plus the word idyllic. That soft light and the mist and the lush green of the foliage in the foreground are all simply gorgeous. I might consider slightly burning the bright water in the lower left hand corner just a tad as that area does slightly pull the eye away from the green, but that's a minor issue. Fantastic.

Thanks Ed! I tried it many times without it working too... I appreciate your comment and happy you liked it.
Vance, Thanks! I'm glad you had the same feel with this that I had enjoyed that morning. You know it wasn't until after I posted this and took a quick look I had the same thought about the water in that spot too. I will take care of that... Nick

Sweet composition and light here, Nick. The mist really helps add a nice mood to the image and the peacefulness of the scene translates well.

This really has a quiet relaxed mood to it. I can just picture myself sitting in a comfy chair with a nice cuppa whatever and just drinking in the sights and sounds. At least until it got to hot but I know I'd be there for a while as a very happy camper. Very nicely composed and certainly a testament to be able to go with the flow. Very well exposed and a wonderful palette of colors. Well done.

I especially like the composition, Nick. The white element in the lower left is somewhat distracting and I think the image could have a bit more punch.

Best wishes,

Carol

Thank you for your thoughts on this one. This version has the brighter water in the lower left side taken down some, which it needed. I did add a little more vibrance and a bit of sat in this one also, but don't really want to do much. As always thanks for your comments and thoughts. Always appreciate your help! Nick

Nick, especially your second version works wonderfully to me. I simply admire this tranquil scene, your fine balanced composition, the natural colors and delightful details in the foreground. You give me the feeling of standing in the middle of the scene breathing the air at the shore of this beautiful lake.

Lovely. You make Wisconsin seem like it's full of icons. The light sure is iconic. Very nicely done.

Looks very peaceful. I like the details in the rushes and where you've placed the opening to the lake. My eyes then follow the lake to the distant hillsides. Lovely picture.

A beautiful scene well captured Nick. The misty hanging around the water is very nice. I think I prefer the color and contrast of the original version, but agree about burning down the bright bit of water on the left

Fantastic composition Nick. I prefer the repost but only slightly. The puff of fog at center/horizon adds a little interest to a gray sky. Nice. :toast:

This is my kind of scene too, Nick. Peaceful, with a quiet beauty, and your well-balanced comp makes this one sing softly and sweetly.
