Gentle waves lap at the rocky "Bold Coast" shoreline in Downeast Maine on the night of the full moon. Taken on the first night of the full moon about 2 hours after moonrise. Canon 5DII, EF17-40 @ 17mm, 14min f8 ISO 200.

Wow, didn't know you could pick up star trails with a full moon. Definitely thought this was a midday shot from the thumbnail.

Beautiful image. I love the balance between warm/cool tones. The serenity of the cliffs and sea seems magnified by the energy of the star trails. Really like this one.

Lovely scene, Bill. I really like the rocks, the star trails, and the clouds. The sky feels bright even for a full moon shot, might be worth some dodging to make it clear that this is a night time shot.

Thank you for the comments, appreciate it! With the stated exposure, it looked much like a normal daytime photo except for the blurred water and faint star trails. So I darkened it overall a bit, darkened the sky a bit more, and enhanced the star trails about 2/3rds f-stop. I had hoped for more wave action so there would be more mist around the rocks--maybe next month! :)

The star streaks a re a nice surprise in the enlarged version compared to the thumb. Darks here seem a little inky, but that's night. It's a interesting combination of light.
