The Noses

This feature in Secret Canyon is referred to as "The Noses". On the occasions that I have visited, it never gets the extreme reds and oranges often seen in the slot canyons. I tend to like the natural browns shown here for a change.

Easy to see where the name came from!

I love the shots with those extreme colors you mention, but it is refreshing to see photos that show what a lot of these slots look like at times. (At least Buckskin, the only slot I've hiked through.) Nice job with the light too, it leads through the comp nicely.

Excellent comp, and it does look very natural. Very well done.

The more subdued light in this image compared to other slot canyon images makes me linger a while longer on the textures and contours. In that regard there is a lot to enjoy in this image. :toast:

I like the subtle color here Bob. As Brian mentioned the textures seem more prominent which is a delightful change sometimes.

Aptly named formations. I like it, too, Bob. I think it focuses attention more on the lines and patterns, which are interesting. Great comp.

The "nose" effect is great. It really does look like a bunch of very interestingly carved statues sitting nose to nose. This is a lovely image, well worth hanging on a wall.

this is very well composed, taking advantage of the light to lead the viewer through the image. The vertical walls and horizontal banding create tension and depth. Excellent job
