This was taken this past April on a rural road south of Charleston, SC. The sun had gotten a bit high and provided some pretty harsh light, so I converted to black & white. I liked the spooky look to it. I shot it with a longer lens for more compression.

That's just an excellent comp. And your conversion has it dripping with mood. Looks like it leads to Spooky Hollow.

I usually see road shots like as a horizontal presentation but I like the vertical comp in this one. Good way to make the best with bad lighting.

Spooky indeed! Very good choice to put it in B and W. Love the tangled branches, the mysterious road leading to a clearing?
Feels very closed in, which evokes the mood. Great job.

This really needs to be viewed large! I love the detail in the branches and the feeling it conveys. The B&W conversion works really well with this.

The b/w makes the image much darker and spookier. The trees make a good arch, with the road leading into the distance, and the longer lens was a good choice.
