Another image of the pair of River Terns from South India. This time I think he suprised himself when he actually managed to take his first tentive steps or wings into the air.Would have prefered to have had time to compose the image a little more and have a little more room for the sibling on the left of the frame .however was hand holding the 500 mm in a very small row boat and wanted to catch the action .I think it would be a little difficult to add some canvas to this one .Cropped the negative space behind the Tern chick in flight .
Canon 500 mm. cano Eos 1D Mk 1V . 1/1000 at F 8. Iso 640 .
Critique and comments welcome . thank you for looking .

Wonderful image, looks like the right one is showing the left one that it's easier than it looks  . Great colors and action, like it a lot ! :toast: , Cheers, Hans

This is a remarkable shot with that size lens handheld in an unsteady boat. It is a wonderful capture, and a precious story.

Congratulations on a crisp shot under very challenging conditions: handheld, and in a boat, too.

I think you got a great image given the tough circumstances, Suzanne. The focus is on the flying tern, so the clipped tail on the other tern is not a big deal. Maybe having the tern fly towards you would have been better, but that is not in your control. :toast:
