Barbary macaque

This Barbary macaque is looking at me like she says: 'don't come any closer to my baby!'. These macaques have a enclosure with a background of beautifully colored 'rocks' which make a nice backdrop for photos. Made in Ouwehands Zoo, Rhenen.

Nice portrait of mother and child. Definitely doesn't want you any closer. Think a vertical would work well if you happened to take one. :wavey:

Nice positioning of the mom and young. I like the eyes of the mother macaque. The BG color adds to the overall image. Thanks for sharing.

Great content with the baby snuggling mom, good eye contact, and the BG looks totally natural.

You're right about the backdrop. It works great. I'm glad to see you went horizontal to include more of it. I have done the same thing with a couple images, despite the fact that the subject seems suited for a vertical crop, and I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. The pose is perfect for a straight-on portrait too.

Sweet image - the centering works well here. Like the soft colours, that great BG and the pose of both mom and babe. Wonderful face and eyes -

Nice colors and lighting in this! The mother's pose and expression does seem to say, "Don't mess with my baby!" My only nit would be that I would like to see the lower part of the macaque in the frame. Thanks for posting this!

The colors, lighting and perfect subtle contrast make this a beautiful photo Ellen. I do really think that a vertical presentation, including more (or possibly all) of the subjects would have made this a perfect shot.
