Belle Ile En Mer

One of the most dramatic landscapes in Brittany is to be found on this extremely scenic island. These rock stacks are monumental, as tall as the towering cliffs. A very different mood for my last post at the same location, this was the morning after. The first two weeks of my trip was notable for its inclement weather, while the last half mainly clear skies and no rain. The first of my favourite shots to appear on the web from France.

Canon 5DMkII, 16-35mm 2.8L, ISO 50, f16, 20s, GND filter. Conversion in Nik Silver Efex 2.

I looked and immediately knew I needed to see the larger version to really feel the wind and power of the storm. It was all that and more!

Very nice Kah Kit love the wind funnelled look and the large version is pretty spectacular.

When I see a wonderfully dramatic shot like this done well in BW, I wish I was better at it myself. I think I need to take a photo trip where I _only_ shoot photos to convert to BW. Love the drama of the larger version!

Pretty freakin wild landscape. Great lines. Definitely a crazy mood going. Seems like there's a lot of distortion you could correct. Nice work sir

I just realised that I posted the wrong version of this. Here is an updated one which shows the flow in the ocean better. Please still check out the larger image which conveys the sense of power a lot better than this.

Terrific energy--the movement in the water sweeps you right along with it. Very dramatic.

Impressive detail, contrasts, and light Kah Kit. Yes, it is powerful indeed though I like the water motion best in the updated version..

What a great abstract. Absent your description I might have thought a much smaller scale. Really like the drama in black water.

Kah Kit,

The second post certainly shows the force/motion of the ocean and weather better - but the larger version is at a whole different level. It's like I can feel it pulling me in. Very rare for an image on a monitor to give such a 3D impression.

I like the dark band up top; it works well to frame the seascape. I like the somewhat heavy contrast as well - so fitting for the scene and atmosphere. Excellent!

The larger version is a must-see...
Love the almost stark tonal range, the composition and the drama.
Expertly done... :toast:

Almost felt like I was going to fall into this one. Very cool. Powerful image. Would be curious what you could do with a little more processing and less automatic software though. There are areas of this I think could really be brought out a bit.

Fantastic image. Very dramatic as others have commented. Personally I would not be quite so heavy with the very deep blacks in the water edges.

Pwerful shot and dramatic processing. I feel the sharpness of those rocks. A very wild feel to this. :toast:
