I'm so envious of your loon shots. There are loons on the bay in NS, but even via kayak they fly well in advance of my approach. Great shot! :toast:

Very nice Loon shot Sandy. I have loved your loon series. The breast seems a little blown out on my monitor.

Sandy, this one is fantastic! My only tiny....and I mean TINY nit, is I would be tempted to remove a bit of the bottom since there is really not much of a reflection and to set it more off center from top to bottom. Other than that, this is superb for me. I might even make a second version and post it in the Art section. Turn it into a B&W, but keep the red eye only. I bet it would look cool!

Nice subject and composition.

Did you do some burning on the breast to pull down the brightness? It doesn't look natural and there are other bits of plumage and reflection that appear brighter.

Great exposure and the detail in the large version is wonderful! I like how they are looking in the same direction. The almost monochromatic appearance is neat as well. Great job!

Sandy: This is a beautifully composed image. The low angle works great, the baby adds a ton to the image. The whites in the breast look odd. Don't know if they were blown and some burning was attempted? Too bad about the whites. The rest of the image is very nice.

Is this a current year shot or another past capture? Great shot bar the whites - a good candidate for some Layer Masking work.

Both adult and baby posed the same, very cute. Very nice shot.

Looks like you did really well with the loons Sandy and i am jealous. Love the head on pose for a change and i am glad you didn't drop your gear over the side of the boat. LOL

The whites are not burned - the darker areas on the breast and "stripes" are reflections from the very dark water.
Don't know how to fix it, but will try later.

Ohhhh...this is nice Sandy! Love the detail in the bird with the water droplets. The feather pattern with the pronounced red eye and posture in the frame all come together for an excellent photo. The little one is the cherry on top!!

Great look at the eyes of both the birds, Sandy. I like your POV and composition a lot. The water droplets on the mother loon adds a nice element and the expression on the chick is tops. The whites look a tad hot - maybe some selective exposure reduction would being it within control. Wonderful image, nevertheless. :toast:

Wow! Incredible colors in the face of this loon and the chick is just too cute. Nice crisp detail in the water droplets. How could it be any better. Great work Sandy.
