This is a great macro shot, Howard! Wonderful comp, good details on the main subject, nice colors, and great lighting. If it were mine, I might clone out the single straight petal in the lower right corner. To me it doesn't look quite natural and with it gone the curving petal would be more noticeable. However, this is being fairly nitpicky. . . It really is a wonderful image all around!

Outstanding, Howard. Love it. Excellent subject detail, perfect off center comp, a beautiful flower, and a really, really nice background, especially the BG filling the URC. The flower, light, and background are so nice, I would have certainly chased the butterfly away after shooting it, and shot the Shasta against the beautiful background as well. Don't get me wrong, however. I think that the BF knocks this out of the park. :toast: :toast:

Really nice composition - I particularly like how the insect is nearly parellel to your camera. So often shots like this are composed at angles so kudos

I really like the composition of this image. The pov works very well along with the complimenting colors.

Terrific sharpness on the butterfly and a there's a really nice subtle glow on some of the wing ridges. Excellent patience to get the butterfly in position. Great shot, Howard!

Another artistic shot, Howard. I think that the position of the elements is excellent 7 the BG is especially strong. My taste might be to crop some of the bright white off the bottom as I find that it distracts from the rest.

Great shot. You did well in getting the sensor plane and the butterfly exactly parallel. I would work on the dark blueish cast background next to the butterfly :jump:
