Fog on the Prairie

This morning I was at Buffalo Creek Wildlife Management Area at sunrise and fog started rolling out of the hills. As the sun came up it added some interesting affects. It was an absolutely beautiful morning. It has been very hot here and this morning it was in the 60s with a very pleasant breeze blowing making it cool and refreshing. I saw several deer and at least 20 different species of birds. Just a great morning, but this afternoon, 104. Thanks for your comments and critiques.

Nice mood to this capture. Good moment of capture. 60-104 is quite a temp range. It is 103 in Dallas 4:41 pm and back to the dog days of summer. :wavey:

Looks very nice, Richard. The warm color palette is very pleasing and the band of fog adds visual interest. I might suggest lightening the RHS with a gradient to reduce the light falloff on that side of the frame.

Gorgeous scene Richard. I do agree about lightening up the RHS but still a beauty of a shot. :toast:

This photo has potential. I am not at all bothered by the light falloff on the RHS. It should fall—it's darker there. I think changing the saturation , especially of the reds and blues from about the fog line up, and some mid-tone darkening, the sky, dark hills and foggy low ground can be given credible drama.

Nice sense of mystery here with the beautiful soft, orange light and the sharp sky and foreground that emphasize the veiled middle ground.

Nice. I like the warm light and the layering with the fog bank. Foreground is very interesting too.

Beautiful color. I might prefer brighten the image up a little.

Hi Richard, This is very nice and I really enjoy the light you caught here. A wonderful mood with the fog and early light. The forground works well too, especially seen in the larger version!

Richard,

I just love the soft and warm diffused light on the landscape. My only wish would be for more landscape/foreground than sky - although I can see why you included more sky too - nice clouds!

Personally, I might be tempted to crop those clouds and just go for the mood and atmosphere; the layer of fog contrasted with the warm light and subtly saturated colors of the prairie... very lovely. The crop and narrower format might enhance the length and lines of the fog bank too.

Like this very much,

Lon
