Greenleaf Hut

I recently spent a night at this hut in NH's White Mountains introducing my nephews to what this kind of experience has to offer. No organized teams, no electronic games, just your feet and carrying what you will need. This was a late afternoon shot above Franconia Notch, with warm light blasting across the alpine zone. In the distance is Cannon Mountain with the ski gondola station visible. The AMC huts in the Whites are a great way to see, access, and photograph the area. Rugged beauty all around.

Gorgeous warm light here Harry. I especially like the color and details in the foreground. I always enjoy seeing your images from the White Mountains. On a side note, my youngest son is working full time on the AMC trail crew this summer. Hope he takes at least a few images during his travels.

Thanks Eva - I've always thought it would be great to work in one of the huts or trail crew. I don't think my body could take all of the abuse. Though there is a hut volunteer position at many of the huts - really an educator that gets to stay at the huts. That sounds more appealing at this point. Plus, it would be more tempting to photograph than dig another water bar  I always make it a point of thanking the crews when I pass them - saw a group below this hut earlier in the year, maybe your son was one of them. I took an honorary dig or two with a hoe to help out! Too many bugs for me to stay in one place. I'll place a link in the original post for some other shots from this outing.

Beautiful afternoon light. Like the lichen covered rocks in the foreground.

You call the building a hut? Looks like a mansion.

Great light and beautiful colors, Harry! Also good layering in the background. I hope that
this experience sold your nephews on photography.
