Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia)

Place: Gilbert Water Ranch, AZ
Date: April 25, 2011, 7:14 am
Equipment: Nikon D200, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E (2x), G1325, RRS BH-55, Sidekick
Exposure: Aperture priority matrix metered, ISO 400, 1/1000th @ f/5.6, -2/3rd ev compensation
Raw, PS CS3 on Mac, tiny crop from slight rotation

I was set up behind my low tripod for shorebirds as I usually am. This Song Sparrow didn’t take long to accept me as a non threat and came out to feed nearby.

There's something about this that's almost like an outdoor studio shot. Good angle and POV, perfect focus and detail, great light. Really, really nice.

Love the low angle and the Song Sparrow in a classic peep pose. Exceptionally nice, Richard.

Different habitat than I am used to seeing them in generally, actually in the water. Love the shot for the habitat and good techs. :toast:

This is really nice Rich, you've created a great mood here with this watery setting..
I especially like this early light, it kicks butt
A common bird, uncommonly well done :toast: :toast:
