What the title says. Shooting these is a pain because the flowers in bloom impede them or lie just below them.

This is a stack of some 7 photos (even though I shot some 20 odd photos, these 7 by trial and error gave me this photo, the 20 for some reason did not). This has also undergone some Photoshop work, so if its obvious, blame it on my inexperience.

ND300s, AFD200mm F/4 Micronikkor @ F/6.3 with 36mm of ET, 1/250 Sec, ISO400, Diffuser, Tripod and Remote Release.

Thanks a lot for your comments on Geranium Up Close and let me know what you think of this one.

Ram, the colors, textures and lines here are absolutely gorgeous! Of course, the water drops are another lovely bonus. The only thing obvious about the Photoshop work, is that it looks fine. I can't even tell what you did. I guess that's to be expected with a stack, where there is one part of the image sharp and the rest way out of focus, but if you did anything not related to focus, it looks perfectly natural.

Beautiful lines and soft dreamy bg. And I love the water drops. Very nicely done!

Ram:
Gorgeous image. From the thumbnail, it looked like a simple shallow DOF shot but there are more to see on opening this up. The water droplets are a bonus. The only thing 'unnatural' about this the relatively abrupt transition from sharp to pink haze - guess this is due to the stack effect - still a very beautiful image.

Nice! Like how the flower seems to be rising from the depths, so to speak. You did a great job with the stack; I seem to have trouble getting things like the spines sharply rendered, you obviously did not.

Looks like a wave of grape! Getting something like this to work out of a stack is a bear! I think you did well. If Gary had not mentioned it, I would never have noticed the abrupt transition from in focus to OOF. The point he made is valid though. The mind has to believe what the eye sees, or at least suspend disbelief. Something to work on, eh?

Great look at a purple swirl...I'm thinking of ice cream now. The sharpness goes just far enough to show off the water drops. Great image.

Works for me Ram. I like the in focus flower emerging from the purple haze. Very, very nice.

I really like this! I like the water droplets & your decision on where to stop & start the stack!
Wonderful image!

Great view of this flower and it's something different and unique. I like the little "barbs" coming off the top and the softness of the background is really nice. The large water droplet I feel is a little out of place - but doesn't kill the image
