Indian Marsh

Left with clear blue skys on my recent Yosemite trip, I decided to make the best of the conditions. I ran across this marsh that someone told me later was Indian marsh? This is actually the first time i'd seen water in this area, let alone enough to creat a huge reflection. I photographed this In the late morning and is a departure from the super colorful skys we often see on this site. As always interested in your thoughts and suggestions. Check the large version if you have a big monitor, the detail is awesome with the D800.

Todd, I like how you used the trees to balance out the strength of the rock towers. Beautiful reflection to boot. Nice one!

Todd,

You're close, but I've always known this to be "Indian Swamp." I'm quite surprised to see so much water here given the way below winter snow pack.

Great reflectionscape and I agree with Dean in that you did a good job balancing the scene out with the trees and Cathedral Rock.

A couple minor suggestions. There are a few very small sensor spots in the sky you might want to clone out if you're going to print this. The other suggestion is to selectively desaturate the green that is just left of dead center. The greens throughout and color/sat in general look really good, except for the greens to the left of the dark pine. They're a bit of an eye magnet for me. Otherwise, nice job with this. A keeper for your Yosemite files.

Thanks Lon, keen on on that nuclear green spot I missed, as well as the name of the location. After my global changes to an image. I need to start thinking local changes as well.I was suprised to see that much water there too, it caught my eye from the road when I was with my wife and kids midday and made a mental note for the next day late am shot.

Beautiful image with the reflection. I wonder how it would look in BW?

Beautiful view here, Todd. That is a fascinating peak and for me at least this is a fresh view from Yosemite.

Good shot from Yosemite. I might suggest a slight contrast reduction. Could be my laptop. Bravo :wavey:
