Blue Hour Mont St Michel

One of the great icons of France, Le Mont St Michel taken in evening twilight.

Canon 5D, 35mm, 30 seconds.

Note from my blog

"After the Eiffel Tour, this would have to be the most recognizable icon in France. It’s actually located just within the border of Normandy rather than Brittany. Interestingly, in all the signage, it is referred to prefaced by the definite article. Le Mont Saint Michel has captured my imagination since the genesis of my travels and photography when I saw it on the cover of a Lonely Planet guide. It’s taken seven years to finally arrive at this destination. I would never have imagined back then that my first experience of the place would be wandering around the bay in the dark in deep mud, avoiding quicksand and keeping a watchful eye on the incredible tides."

More about the blue hour and this shoot below.

The soft reflection on the water is also excellent. No complaints here

The blues and soft reflection are absolutely beautiful Kah Kit. The texture in the mud is a nice contrast.

I've seen many photos of Mont St Michel, but none with such a wonderful leading line. Really terrific composition.

Excellent shot! I love the unique, fresh compsition with this great leading line (I am glad that you didn't fall in the water  )
I love the simplicity and tranquility from the cold blue tones.

My favorite time of day to shoot!
What a gorgeous rendition of this place. Excellent leading lines in your comp, and the blue/yellow color palette is marvelous. One of the best I have seen from here.

Probably the nicest image I've seen from there! I love the artistry of the crescent ridge leading to the castle with a perfectly framed reflection and the sense of the water acting as a moat.

Just beautiful. Graet using of leading lines of the cracks and land to bring me to the castle. The blues and yellow of the castle lights go perfectly together.

Wonderful. Looks like the foreground change here all the time because of the tides - you found a great place and time for the shot.

A great find, Kah Kit! The curving lead-in line gives this a good feeling of depth. The cracks
are also a plus giving some diversity and texture to the FG. I like the varying blue tonal qualities.
The lit tower helps to put this composition over the top.

Gorgeous. Fabulous composition, and the building sure stands out nicely against the blue tones.
