Spotted this whitetail doe standing in front of the large tree. I liked the view of her in these dark woods. Not sure if I should have cropped out some of the FG, but didn't like how it looked. Did not notice the small branches crossing her face until I had downloaded the images. Decided to leave them in.

I like the framing by the huge trees, but to me the twigs intersecting the face are a big distraction.

Hi John,

Very nice setting - it DOES look like the deep woods! I like the darkness and deep rich colours associated with those dark tones. The foreground doesn't bother me, but I find the bent and somewhat out-of-focus tree on the left side of the frame more detrimental to the overall shot than those finer branches that intersect the face (tho' in a perfect world those branches would have magically parted for you just before shooting the image! ). But nothing you could have done about the tree or the branches...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Thanks for your comments. Decided to try my skill at cloning out the branches over her face.

Great look at this doe, John. Whitetails don't give you many chances for an open shot like this. A really great habitat shot as well. The red summer coat goes well with all the greenery. The only thing I would do would be to darken or clone out those bright spots way in the BG. In a perfect world those branches wouldn't be there around her face, but the world isn't perfect and I can live with it. That tree to the left is kind of unique as the sweep and curve of the doe nicely mimics the tree. It doesn't bother me.
