This female landed on a poplar tree on my property and I was able to capture her calling from my deck.
Not baited, called, or set-up.

Nice catch of a very elusive bird!
Great calling pose and good detail.
Perhaps could use a bit more contrast ? - seems just a bit flat from here.

Looks good to me also, but it would be interesting to see what a bit more contrast might do. Nice pose. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot. Such a cool looking bird with that fiery crest. I have never yet seen one. I like the typical woodpecker pose, the catchlight and the blue sky makes a nice BG. I also think it could use a slight contrast bump.

Wonderful detail here, and a really nice, clear image. Seems intimate because of the calling pose.

Nice look at this dramatic bird. I like the open beak and light in the eye.

I would agree that this image could benefit from a bit more contrast to get the colors to pop a little bit. I would rotate the tree trunk a bit clockwise to straighten it out and I would be tempted to crop a bit from the left side of the image to move the bird a bit more off center. Great capture. I wish I had one of these in my personal collection.
