Remembering Dolly & Leo
by Lorna Taylor
I don't know who Dolly and Leo where but they were loved and remembered. Isn't that what we all want. As photographers we make our stamp on the world with our images so people will know us and remember us and we share the things we see and do in our lives through our photos . I guess in a way our photography is our memorial bench mark. Long after we are gone our work , images and thoughts that we share will still be here floating around on the endless universe called the internet. We will not be forgotten and we will be remembered even if it is just for a moment. Few of us will make great impacts in our life times but through our photography we do touch , inspire and even help others remember and connect to passed emotions and memories . That is enough for me. I am really in many ways just starting to carve my memory bench in photography ,but it is the roads we choose and the journeys that get us there and hopefully along the way someday our images will be our Memory Bench. I will be 44 next week and I seem to have gotten there in a blink of an eye , I will try to blink slower for the next 44 and learn to open my eyes more , breath more and see all that life has to offer around me. Be careful how you carve your bench in life. I hope it will be beautifully weathered and sitting in lovely settings where others will sit and rest awhile and breath and see the beauty that surrounds them through your images.

Perhaps a few of the memories will be through photographs, but I think it's more likely that most photographs will bring to mind the subject of the photo more than the photographer. Because of that, I put extra effort into images of subjects that I care about, and that I think deserve to be remembered. As for memories of me, I rely on strengthening relationships with my loved ones, and once in a while getting on the other side of the lens with them.
The bench serves nicely to promote this short article too..
And being a visually oriented group, it works perfectly here.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us Lorna, great stuff!
