I took this tonight at the same windmill that I took the solar eclipse image last month. I used an over exposed radiograph to filter the sun. I combined 2 exposures, one for the sun and one for the windmill. The radiograph is what is causing the softness to the windmill. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Darned if I can say why, but I like the addition of the windmill to this astronomical shot. Same goes for the eclipse shot.
Thanks for sharing this once in a lifetime event. :toast:

That's pretty amazing, Rob! the clouds add a lot too. I have mixed reaction to the windmill--i think if it had been smaller and clearer in the frame it might have worked better--but it still makes a nice additional subject.

Allen, you have the same reaction as viewers around here. Windmills are a popular theme here in central Kansas.

Stan, I know what you are say saying. Even as I was shooting this, I wasn't sure I was going to get anything useful due to the softness caused by the film. I haven't looked yet to see if I have any better windmill images.

Rob, could you have used a polarizing filter instead of the radiograph? Neat shot, thanks for sharing.
