Another shot from Malheur NWR. This was made late the same afternoon as the stilts photo at the same pond my last day there. This avocet would dunk it's entire head as it foraged. I worked to capture the momment it's head would emerge from the water. This is my last post for little while, heading up to Nome early in the morning for an adventure with the birds of the arctic.

Canon MkIV, 600mm & 1.4x, 1/2000, f9, ISO 640, Manual Spot Meter

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated

Ken, very good reflection shot. I like the stripes of reflected light on the delicate bronze color. Looking forward to seeing your shots from Nome.

Sounds as if you guys had a great time at Malheur! I'm envious, and hope to get there with you one year.
Nice action here and great colours/reflection.
Might need a bit of CW rotation to straighten the eye/reflected eye - hard to tell.
Sweet!

Great timing on this one Ken! I really like the water trail. The light and colors are excellent in this. While I like the reflection, I am wondering if it would have more impact with the water action if you cropped it tighter and lost the reflection? not sue if you tried it or not to look.

Very nice! I like all the water dripping off of the beak. I also like the color of the water and the broken up reflection of the bird. :toast:

Ken! Whoa, this is really gorgeous! Greta timing for the capture creates some dynamic motion and the reflection is great.
Safe travels and good hunting in the endless light!
