Buttercup

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted June 4, 201281 views6 comments
This was taken over Memorial Day weekend in a sunlit mountain meadow. I had posted another buttercup photo earlier in the flora gallery. When I was young we used to hold these under our chin and if it reflected yellow we would say we liked butter!

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/10 for 1/20 sec. ISO 200. Tripod mounted, natural lighting. Blocked bright sunlight with my shadow.

Very pretty buttercup, Carolyn. I find detail in yellow flowers can get lost, but the detail in this one is excellent. I probably prefer the BG of the version you posted in flora, but this one is very nice as well.

Like the way you've framed this and the shift of light across the petals Carolyn.
This "shift" has revealed a translucent quality rt side of the buttercup that's attractive to me.
Well done!

The yellow of the flower is well presented on the very green BG. I really like this image. :wavey:

Great detail and light in the buttercup, I like the details and the slight translucency in the petals. Nice bg and I also like the two strong colors working with each other here.

Buttercups are so nice. My neighbors probably think I'm crazy because I encourage them to grow in my yard and I don't mow those sections until they're done blooming. The details in the flower are great and I do like the addition of the oof bud.
