Warbler and Spruce Cone

Another warbler from Maine, this one a Black-throated Green Warbler. I saw a lot of these while there, but had a hard time photographing them because they were high in the canopy. This was taken on a raised road bed that sloped down on both sides, with spruce/mixed forest on both sides. Given the trees were all down below the road bed, I was thus (kind of!) up in the canopy!! There was plenty of bird activity, so it was just a matter of waiting.

Canon 50D, 400 5.6L, 1/80, f6.3, ISO 400. Still the same poor light that I had most of my trip, but it worked when they sat still long enough.

Sounds/looks like you got a great POV from slightly above Terry.
Lovely setting for this beautiful warbler, I've only seen it here a couple of times..
Sharp details from head to tail, excellent work :toast:

Terry: A very nice natural image. The pose and perch are really great. Kudos for getting yourself at eye level to capture this fine image. Nicely done.

Great looking shot! The evergreen setting and the pine cone really add a lot to this one. Also nice pose and great feather detail.

Nice work getting this one Terry. Even if they are at the right level, within the pines, it is so hard to get an open shot at one. Nicely done!
