What's spring without at least one monarch macro?
This b-fly is a bit shy, it was playin' peek-a-boo with the photographer here

F/14, 1/200th, ISO 640, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm + Kenko 1.4x ext with fill flash. Monopod for support around 9:00am and partly cloudy.

Beautiful image, Howard. Good use of the fill flash. The light is excellent. Excellent detail in the monarch and the flower against the nice background. I wish the monarch head was more a little visible in the image, but it looks like he was immersed in the flower.

Beautiful colors & comp on this image. The BF looks pristine as well. Too bad you couldn't get the face, but it looks like it is happily feeding!

That looks like one very happy Monarch. I like the curve of the stem leading up to the flower and b-fly, great detail against a nice soft bg. Would love to see more of it's face but it was too busy enjoying it's breakfast.

The monach reminds me of when i have my beacon and sunnyside up eggs for breakfast
