Cedar Waxwing, a small group hunting for insects. Background is a Willow tree. Lot of plant fluff floating around, some is caught on the branch by the birds right foot. Nikon D300s, 300mm f2.8 with 1.4tc, ISO 500, f5.6, S-1/320. Thanks, critique and comments appreciated. Ray

Very nice shot! The pastel colors of the bird are very vivid and matched very nicely by the BG pastels. I also like the pose and the perch. The comp is good but it seems to me that there is just a little to much empty space at the top. I think just a bit more cropped from the top would improve it. Overall excellent.

Beautiful birds! I love the colors of the background, it goes great with the bird. We only have them here in the south for about 2 weeks on their flight north. Wish we had them longer. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice complimentary color scheme, wonderful pose Ray.
Great detail, DOF, exposure, and framing.
The "plant fluff" looks like the remnants of some "bug stuff"?? Maybe from a coccoon or spider web?
Hard to tell exactly..
But it doesn't "bug" me much at all:wink:
Well done! :toast:

The colors in the Cedar Waxwing tie in very nicely with the background colors. Nice perch and pose. The bird looks tack sharp on my monitor. Looks like a photo you could print and sell. Great job.

Gorgeous background and a great perch Ray, I could see cropping some off the top and adding a bit on the bottom if you have it. :toast:

Ray, this is just excellent! Wonderful "curious" pose, great eye, beautiful soft colours on the bird and a perfect perch and BG.
Congrats on a hard-to-achieve Avian WP!
