Circle Cliffs

The Circle Cliffs along the Burr Trail in Southern Utah sit atop some colorful red and blue clays. A nice soft sunset was caught one evening two weeks ago on a trip from Bryce to Moab.

Nikon D90, Nikon 16-35 @ 26mm, f/8, iso 200.

Larger image provided. As always, any suggestions and critiques are welcome.

Doug, this is really nice. The larger version definitely shows the beauty here. Well done! :toast:

I really like the light in this. Having said that, I feel you can bring out some more colors in the sky and landscape. My only other suggestions would be to crop out the tree on the left as my eye is drawn to that and it almost looks as if the image is a bit over sharpened. Otherwise you have a fine image here.

Very nice desert scene, Doug. Beautiful skies, too! I like it.
I find myself agreeing with Peter in finding the 'development' a bit too conservative here. Cropping that tree on the left would help make the balance a lot better, IMO.

Excellent image. The pastel sky is superb. I agree with the crop suggestion.

Here is a repost. Thanks for the feedback.
Cropped off the left cedar tree (it needed that).
Also darkened the sky some, selectively saturated the reds a little more and rid some splotches in the lower right sky. There was not much color or contrast to start with in teh sky, and thought the lighter pastel colors made the darker mountain stand out more. Image wass taken looking southwest, so setting sun was to right side/behind mountain.
A little less web sharpening also.

Very nice image Doug. The reds at the base of of the cliffs and the subtle sunset light create a very pleasing image. The repost looks great.

Good capture that would improve with cropping the partial cedar tree on left.

Nice subject and and great light. Could see trying to take this a little further in development to up the drama some.

Doug, I appreciate your second version a lot, a nicely balanced composition to my eye. The subtle pastel colors in the sky complement the impressive rock formations in an appealing way to me.

The repost looks much better, Doug. 'Losing' that tree did wonders here.
I'm with Tony re: taking it a bit further.
