Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro, CPL
ISO 200, 1/40 @ f11

Took a trip to the Mercer Arboretum yesterday to check out the water lilies. Several spectacular flowers were open and just enough random clouds floating overhead to occasionally subdue the sun. All comments welcome.>=))>

Bill:
The water lily bloom is very pretty and nicely captured with the subdued lighting.

I went to the HK Wetland Park last Friday to shoot dragonflies and was please to see the lotuses are starting to bloom. Had no such luck with subdue lighting though. Have to make an early morning visit to my favorite lotus pond soon.

Bill this is my favorite flower. You have captured it in such a beautiful light with all excellent details. I like your selection of relatively low viewpoint. Excellent presentation.

Really well taken and composed Bill. The reflection with a hint of sky makes this for me. Wonderful.

The delicate feel of the lotus is continued in the pads. I like the surface tension created by the pads, their lines, and the colors of the water.
Would like to see more of those wonderful lily pads, though..

Soft light brought out the best. NIce composition with the water reflection getting just enough of the bloom. Hard to bring together the comp, light, fresh bloom and foreground. Well done.

Bill - Beautifully done with a nice low angle and inclusion of the reflection. Lily is in good shape and the CPL has tamed the reflections and highlights very well

Water lilies are one of my favorite flowers and you have done a nice job capturing this image. This is kind of one of those tough situations, if you go lower to the water you'll get a nicer reflection, but then you lose the beauty of the flower. My preference would be to shoot from a slightly higher vantage point if possible and capture more of the stamen in the flower. Bill - Nice job waiting for the light to soften to capture this lovely flower.
