Haling Peak Ablaze

This is an image from my time living the Canadian Rockies. I miss it immensely!

There is a faint rainbow there on the right and i'm sure I could have done more to bring it out. Is it too faint?

Thanks for your comments and constructive criticisms.

Impressive shot. I like the composition and the reflection. The rainbow is always a nice touch, but, it is at corner that leads eyes out of the frame. I am not sure if it adds to the image or taking away the focus if you enhance it. Sometimes it is hard to give up a good rainbow

Thanks for the comment John. You're right I think enhancing it may draw attention away from the sunlit peaks and their reflection.

Ditto on the leaving the rainbow as is. It's just an accent now, but would dominate too much if enhanced, I think. Great light and color! Nice comp as well, and the reflection is equally impactful. Very well done.

The light on the peaks is superb Luke. I like as is. I wound not bring up the rainbow since it may distract from the rest of this amazing scene.

Wow, that is one incredible scene and incredible light. Very nice balance of light both in the sunlit and shadow areas. Mountains seem to be diverging somewhat, or is it just me

Nice comp Luke. Love the clarity of mountain top reflection in the fg. The two fg rocks also add great depth and story to the image. I agree the rainbow in this instance is a distraction, so toning down rather than enhancing would be good... it disturbs the symmetry imho.
Quite a sea change from Canadian Rockies to Perth. At least you've got some great coastal and desert locations over there!

Thanks Tony, they probably are a little. I didn't correct the perspective of this image so that is likely.

Thanks David. Yeah massive change! I miss the rockies a lot. Western Australia is just so vast so it is a long way between varying locations as i'm sure you know.

I like the composition with the stones leading into the image and the clouds forms playing well. The beautiful warm light on the pics and their reflections in the water are really good.

Nice looking comp and amazing light show. I'd play around with the perspective a bit more and try to correct those mountains from diverging, to better match the reflection..a minor nit though, awesome shot! :toast:

This image is just wonderful, even without noticing the rainbow. I think a bit extra contrast would have helped, but sincerely I think the overal composition is just too strong and perfect that way.

Hi luke, nice to meet you and good to see someone from Perth at NPN. I love this site as you know there are lots of great photographers here who can give there expert opinion.
I miss Canada too, I lived in Vancouver for about 10 years, now in Perth. I think the Canadian Rockies are the heaven on the earth, at least for me.
Nice image, I like the warm light on top.
