Wind in the Wires

I was somewhat shocked at the (less than esthetic) appearance of these power lines under construction in southeastern Alberta near Brooks. The area has important habitat for bird life. I have to wonder what effects this infrastructure that goes on for miles and miles to the horizon, might have on birdlife. The scale of these GIGANTIC towers seems freakishly out of place in the subtly rolling prairie landscape.

This is becoming such a common landscape in the world. To my son's eyes the new towers look like robots from space. I don't know what affect they will have on the bird habitats, the initial construction will probably be harder on the environment then once they're finished.

Congrats on the WP - sadly, becoming a common sight, and will surely cost bird lives..
