Another early morning trip to the local nature preserve found a number of deer quietly grazing or bedded down. This doe was enjoying some tender green shoots to start the day. The greenery won't last too much longer as we won't have any significant rain until fall. As you can see, quite a bit has already died and turned brown. With the image I reduced the exposure some as it was overall too bright and warmed up the color balance. I left the overhanging leaves in as I thought it looked fine but would like some input as to whether you agree with that or not. Full frame image and the deer was not called, baited, or otherwise attracted. Comments and critiques welcomed and appreciated.

Nice photo Peter. I like that you caught her with grass in her mouth! The overhanging leaves I feel do not add anything to the image, nor do they cause any major distraction. I would suggest leaving them in, but darkening them if possible, just to reduce the slight distraction. Thanks for sharing, I have enjoyed this series of deer photos you have shared.

Hi Peter, this is another appealing image of a deer in its habitat. I like the fact that the BG is dark, which sets off the subject well. The light striking the face and eye help a lot towards the appeal of the image as well. I must say that regarding the leaves coming in from the right, Ifeel the same as John; they neither add nor are they very distracting. A tighter crop would eradicate them and not alter the character of the image IMO.
