Several Golden-winged were positioning for territory this morning and I captured this fellow seconds before leaving his perch to chase away an intruder.

NR taken to the background of the image-sharpened in the usual fashion.

Not bated, called, or setup.

Neat!

This was a bird of very limited range in NJ when I lived there, and the range was shrinking as the Blue-winged Warblers pushed them out. Here in AZ I was lucky enough to see one vagrant, but that was back around '95 or '96 so it has been quite a while for me.

I like the natural colors and the active pose.

Nice image of this beautiful species Chuck, if you could pull a little more details out of the black on the throat I and face I think that would improve this a little bit. :toast:

Very nice capture, Chuck. One of my favorite species, too. I find myself wishing for a bit of detail in the black throat, but I can see that the exposure would have been difficult against the bright sky. Might be worth some times with the Shadow/Highlight tool.

I like the pose and the setting a lot Chuck. I agree with Nate about getting just a touch more detail in the blacks. The high ISO shows, but is acceptable IMO.

Nice pose, Chuck. Not sure why the high iso, given that shutter speed, but tit still comes through well.
