Antelope Storm
by Youssef Ismail
I still have a case of flower fever that has not been satiated this year. So I have gone back two years to when I had last seen a descent wildflower bloom in the southern California deserts, namely the Antelope Valley. Even though color abounds in this image, it was a weak wildflower showing, as the plants barely were over 8 inches tall. I recall from maybe a decade ago, poppy plants as tall as nearly 2 feet!
Anyway, I was never happy with the processing I originally did, so I returned to it and using TK Masks I hand blended four digital exposures to retain color detail in the sky.
I appreciate the feed back I have received on the last several images and would love to hear your thoughts on this one.

13 commentsI believe the great year was 2003. I got my first LF camera and was trying to figure out how to use it out in the Antelope valley. It took me about 25 minutes to set up a simple image with tilt. Ah, the bad old days. I thought every year looked like that there and at Gorman. It turned out to be one of the best years in decades. If I only knew how to use the camera back then.
