Opening In Blue

Here is the other rendition of the same Dogwood branch over the Merced. In this one I altered the shutter speed and color balance and added a bit more contrast. Both have an appeal and at the same time give a completely different feel.

Which do you like better?

I like this one quite a bit more, for the color palate if nothing else. :toast:

I too like this one a bit more. The WB is nicer to me, but also the smoothness of the bg is a little more pleasing to my eye

I prefer this one with it's wistful mood and fresh colors. Both are first-rate though. Nicely done

Sweet shot Youssef. I like this much better than your previous one, and I liked it a lot. I didn't comment on it due to lack of time, but I think the different color balance in this image really made a positive difference. As you mentioned, the different shutter speed also gives a completely different feel. Excellent work, as always!

The blue look is best Youssef. I really like this one.

As much as I liked the other one, I think I like this one better. You can't go wrong with either, as both work beautifully.

I really like this version Youssef. the flowers seem to jump right off the screen. Beautiful work.

This is much better, IMO. I like the smoother water, and the blue color is more appealing to me. The flowers pop nicely against this background.

I definately prefer this version. The color balance works much better for me. The blues of the water and yeelow/greens of the flower compliment one another. The water on the other version looked a bit grey.

Youssef, Ahhh, I like this one much better (I think it's unanimous!) Not necessarily for any color change (seems minor to me) but more because of the bg water; there's a more elegant flow and texture in the water that really makes this image for me. Personally, I don't think you needed the added contrast in the branch/dogwood either.

This one's the keeper and a winner.

I love the last one. I love this one more! I am jealous of these shots since when I try them the trolls move the branch (it's the only explanation for why my branches are always soft :jump: ) The silky water adds so much and I bet it is really impressive in print. The feel of the other is very different and has a place for sure, but this one's place is on my wall!

Lon, thanks for pointing out the increased contrast. I was not particularly going for darker branches, but the increased contrast did help bring some extra definition to the blossoms themselves. I will probably go back and lighten the branches a bit with a TK mask. Thanks again for the feedback.

I like this one better mostly because of the background.
