Fire-belly Toad

Finally, after several attempts, I got a sharp, straight-on shot of one of these Oriental Fire-bellied Toads. I don't know why it was so difficult to get a sharp image! Anyway, the water is getting so mucky that soon I won't be able to see any. Also, you can see into the water just enough to see the fiery color of its belly.

Canon EOS 60D
Lens: Sigma DG 120-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 APO OS HSM
Focal Length: 273mm
f/5.6
Shutter 1/250
ISO 400
HH/ Speed Light

Cropped about 90%

Hey Mark, your persistence paid off. Excellent in your face image of this toad. You say that the image is "cropped 90%." Do you mean you cropped 90%, or that the image is 90% of the original (i.e., cropped 10%)? I assume the latter. I think the final subject to background ratio is perfect.

This is a nicely sharp being so close. The exposure is handled very well.

Well done Mark! I do like this straight into the camera pose. Good exposure. Thanks for sharing.

I think the mostly centered comp works well combined with the head-on view Mark.
The water tension around the head, and complimentary green specks throughout the frame make it great.
Really like those eyes, nice details there.
Have a good weekend :toast:
