Simple Carnation

HI,, another shot from this weekend with the 200mm f4 macro......... I know this is just a simple carnation. but I worked with it to get as sharp as focus as I could with the flower, and as oof back ground, which was a fence and sunlit trees. Took this shot under an umbrella with the bright background.

tripod with nikon d700 iso 200, ss 1/13, f/22, 200mm macro lens

Beautiful carnation portrait, Sally. Love that color! I wish the background was all green; the sharp division of the brown part of the background distracts from the beautiful flower IMO.

Sally - My thoughts are exactly in line with what Carolyn said earlier to me. This is a terrific capture of this rather beautiful flower. A slightly better background control would put this over the top.

Simple carnation but beautifully captured. Your focus is spot on. If you lower your tripod slight and angle up the camera, you could avoid the brown fence altogether.

I agree with comments that this is worth a little background work...

The colors of the flower are very vivid and the detail is great. I agree that the background is distracting from the flower.

HI all, yes I knew when I posted the BG was the problem, but guess I just wanted/needed your verificiation. I have already started working on the BG in PS... will re-post hopefully tonight.
I feel like I am improving on making adjustments and paying attention to the BG when I take my shots, but obviously it still needs work! Appreciate the comments. :wavey:

Hi Sally. Nice work on the flower. The details are very nice and sharp. The BG is distracting for me, with the hard line of the fence. Sometimes I find that a lower or higher vantage point allows me to control the BG to all one color.
