One of the best features along the Upper Terrace Drive at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone is Orange Mound Spring. It is very active with a nice covering of orange bacteria. Combined with the textures its very inviting for photographs.

As always I appreciate any feedback. Thanks for comments on my last image.

Hard to dislike anything about this landscape. I especially like the various textures and shades of tan and orange, I would be tempted to clone out the small triangle of forest on the RHS.

The textures in this are great. This may be one of my favorite takes on the Hot Springs (I haven't seen too many, but this already sticks out). It's almost too bad that tree had to sick up right in front of the mound, but than again, it adds a bit of extra interest. Nice image!

I like the cloud too. Ditto about dead trees.

Wonderful composition, Dean! This has an otherworldly quaility about it for me.
I like the colors and tonal variations. The upright tree is an extra plus. I'm not
sure if the image would be slightly improved or not by cloning out the fallen tree.
Just thought.

I remember seeing this thermal feature for the first time several years ago and thinking to myself, "WOW, this is incredible!" Unfortunately the harsh midday light wasn't doing me any favors so I never got a photograph, makes me want to visit it again this year..

I really like the comp with the interesting textures leading up to the mound, the dramatic sky is a great compliment as well. Nice work Dean. :toast:

Nice comp, lovely light and color. And, the dark clouds add a bit of mood. I don't mind the upright tree, but I wish the fallen one leading out of the frame wasn't there. Well, not much you could do about that. Cloning could be an option. Still, the color in this makes it work very well.

Facinating landscape Dean, love all the detail you've captured in this.

Excellent shot. I've seen a few other shots from this location, but none quite like this. The moody gray of the sky complements the scene very nicely. The image also tells a story, particularly with the upright dead tree, that makes it very effective IMO.
