Padlock

Allaire State Park, central New Jersey
Sometime between 1975-1985
Nikon camera, Nikon macro lens (probably 55/3.5)
Kodachrome 64

I couldn’t resist one final monochrome post.

This is from my early years and is a film image that I scanned some time ago. Although I don't do as much of this sort of image these days I still enjoy making them when I encounter a suitable subject and have a proper lens with me.

All comments welcome; honest critique appreciated. Larger version provided.

Striking reds with the details showing nicely due to the very soft lighting. I like the red/gray contrast. I could see a slight crop from the bottom as providing better balance for the lock and more focus on the subtle details in the paint.

This looks like the kind of images frequently found in the POP gallery. However, it certainly fits this weekly challenge also. I really like the stark simplicity of this and the storytelling feel to this image. The lock is interesting in that it shows the wear and tear of use compared to the red of the background. Good eye to see an interesting image in something ordinary, Richard.

This image really stands out in your gallery..all the red caught my eye in a sea of birds.
A must see large to fully appreciate it's "character".
You should do more like this Rich.
Well done & have a great weekend :toast:
