Awakening

Just came back from 3 days in White Pockets, a place keeps my fascination awake at all time. This is so far my most difficult venture out west, but it is well worth the effort. Digging the car out of deep sand and fixing the flat tire are just those skills a landscape photographer has to learn

John, the dynamic lines lead me into the depth in an appealing way, and I especially enjoy the glow on the distant rock.

The large version is really nice John. Sounds like a crazy adventure. By the way, your post to comment ratio is way below the recommended standard for this forum.

The lines in the foreground work well John to bring the viewer into the scene. The blue orange combo also is attractive.

Fascinating rock formations, John. Almost looks like hot mud spreading down the mountain. The textural details are fabulous.

Thanks Eva, David, Ian, Scott.

I got a flat tire AFTER I went back on the gravel road. I am not sure if it is good luck or bad luck.

John,

Good meeting you at the White Pockets. An excellent example of the minagarie of lines and shapes this place has.
It don't sound fun changing a tire in deep sand!, But much better than the folks I gave a ride back into town. Their transmission had come loose and dumped all the fluid in the sand :frown:
Glad you made it back home!
Nice photo!!

Richard,
It was nice to meet you there. I need to follow your footsteps. You looked so outdoor savvy that drive to White Pocket was piece of cake to you.

BTW. Your web site is a list of Ad's. Is it still active?

Beautiful curves in the foreground. The moody cool clouds in the sky complement the red rocks well.

A nice adventure story, also.

Very nicely done! I like the realistic colors and great lines.

As far as flats go, airing down sure does help a lot to avoid them. And makes a smoother ride and easier to go through sand.

Thanks, Harley. I never thought about airing down to avoid flat. It makes sense because the pressure is lower. Good to learn.

The lines are awesome. Nice warm light on the background rock and blues of the sky work well together. Nice work John.

Great composition. Those lines coming from the lower left really lead the eye around the image and give a great sense of depth. Nice work :toast:
