The Canadian Rockies - Crowfoot Mountain and Bow Lake in Banff, Canada

This is an outrageously beautiful place I will never forget and hope to get back to at some point.

Bow Lake is at altitude of 1920 meters while Crowfoot Mountain rises to an altitude of 3050 meters. My two sons loved this area for the many hikes and rock scrambles. I just liked hanging out by the lake waiting to be attacked by grizzlies.

Thanks or having a look and for your comments on my previous post. This was taken several years ago.

Sweet moment you've captured here. This place is definitely on my short list of places to visit, hopefully soon. :toast:

Neat composition but the weaker colors of the light make me wonder about taking it monochrome.

The Canadian Rockies are amazing. Hope to get up there in the next couple of years.

This is a beautiful daytime photograph Eva. Really like everything about it. Even the compressed look of the water is engaging.

Gorgeous place and heavenly clouds to boot! I like the low angle, too.
I hope you get back there. (I was in Banff for less than a day while waiting for a plane after a conference in Calgary, and swore I would return. Maybe someday.)

Now that is a beautiful scene! Great comp and those clouds are fantastic. I'm sure this would look great in b/w, but I like this color version alot! Hope you make it back, Eva!

Hi Eva,

This is a very nice scene. I like the way you've captured the ripples in the lake and I love the low perspective. Both versions have some dust bunnies near the top of the image and the large version looks slightly over sharpened IMO. I do think this is a powerful and evocative scene.

What a beautiful scene Eva, I love the way the clouds are scudding across the mountain tops. I like the part about the grizzlies--I hate it when that happens!

Thanks all or your comments. I'll have a look at B&W but I like the muted colors.

Hi Jack - I brought my 70 - 200mm, 24- 70mm, 16 -35mm (did not have my 24mm TS-E back then and no longer have the 16 -35mm), and my 180mm Macro. I do not take wildlife in general so do not have any lens longer the 200mm..

Hey Bill - Every time I heard rustling in the brush my heart would start pounding. Glad we don't have grizzlies in the NE.

Eva, the tranquility of the water complements the dynamics of the mountain range in a wonderful way to me. To my eye, the muted colors add a lot and convey this specific atmosphere impressively to me.

This is very nice, Eva. It has a "film" quality to it, which works well with this scene.

Awesome, Eva! This is a grand scenic. I have no suggestions for changes or improvements.
This illustrates the power of nature. I hope that you're joking about the grizzlies. Don't take
any chances.

What struck me immediately, Eva, was the wonderful graceful curve of the far slope, seemingly in motion, quietly guiding the eye back to the far mountains and the clouds. The curve of the slope appears to be even more accentuated by the lines in the lake surface. Stunning.

Wonderful light and composition, Eva, the clouds coming off the peaks really intensifies the scene. :toast:
