Lovely shot Gerald, Love the BG and the comp. of this Iris it really enhances the colour. Just a touch more sharpness on the front pedal would have made this a strong image . Welcome to the Flora Gallery I look forward to seeing more or your work ! :wavey:

Gerald - Warm welcome to the Flora Gallery  and thanks for sharing your Flora photos with us.

A beautiful photo of the Iris to open your account here. Lovely colors and a soft feel really makes for an interesting frame. I would have liked to see the stem too but then I can see you were going after a more artsy look, I guess.

Great Iris. I love the floating effect. I am very partial with flower portraits using the floating effect.
Good job.

Gerald: Welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet and thanks for a fine first post here. I really like the color palette you have here. The only thing that would work a bit better for me would be a touch more sharpness on the beard. BTW, I took a cursory glance at your gallery and it looks like a very nice body of work. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>

Gerard:
Iris is a challenging flower to photograph and you have done well here with this pleasing POV showing off the beard and interior. The dark bg is good for isolating the flower. The focus here is towards the back of the flower and it would be better if the focus is on the beard (I seldom use manual focus due to presbyopia but I do use live view focus when it is critical as in this image). Also the dark shadow on stem is a little confusing and a little fill light would be helpful.

Thanks for posting and look forward to seeing more from you.

Hi Gerald :wavey: Wellcome to flora :jump: This is a very fine first post  many photographers think light is the most important ingrediant in their work, and you nailed it here, love the color. and BG. I guess that darn beard was erect to be OF
