Rookery. Lake Livingston, TX May 2012
D4 ISO 1000. 500/4. f11 1/4000s -0.3ev. From a boat. Camera propped on a "transom saver" that secures our boat engine because I left my monopod and tripod in the car.

Wonderful shot Angela, clear as a bell. Excellent exposure and detail of those white feathers, nice work.

Nice stern pose with a sharp look in the eye and the branch leads you to the bird nicely. Feather on the end of the beak is bonus.

Looks good - nice technicals; good exposure; good composition.
I would assume this one was a lot easier to compress with such a uniform sky background.

Really nice details and great open shot of this egret. Wonderful head turn and comp. Nice use of the transom saver, too! (I'll have to remember that...we usually leave ours in the truck!) Sharon

Hello ANGELA
Tack Sharp, Love the Feather in the beak, Very well exposed , with those difficult whites,
What is Time of Exposure ? Crop ? You appear to have Tons of room for ISO & shutter speed adjustments? But the D4 has held up Very well Showing off this Fine Image !!

Although the sky was blue behind the bird, the East sky was full of dark clouds. This just happened the moment yjat sun came along in an otherwise cloudy day. Taken at 9am or so. I am very comfortable with the D4 at 1600 ISO.

I meant I can use 1600 comfortably as a baseline and go up from there.

A real winner, Angela. As pretty a shot of this species as I have seen. And outstanding work on the whites, suggesting their brilliance while keeping detail. Excellent!
