While waiting at the zoo to try and get photos of a tigers sore paw, I noticed this Scarlet Ibis in the rainforest exhibit pool and liked the natural light on it. The ibis in the exhibit are fully flighted.

Lovely color really stands out against the dark BG. The body feathers seem a bit soft, even in the larger image, although there is a fair amount of detail. I suspect f/4 and HH at 1/125 took the sharpness down somewhat.

That is one scarlet Scarlet Ibis. I've certainly never seen one that bright in the wild. But a nice, moody shot; well seen and captured.

Not sure about this shot brightness-wise John. It seems just a bit dark to me overall. Otherwise a nice image.

In spite of the softness, the large version of this is quite mesmerizing with that scarlet and dark gray.
